Calgary Stampede 2011

This week we went to the Calgary Stampede!

There are some super scary rides like the sling shot, where you are buckled in your seat which is attached to two stretchy strings. You immediately shoot straight up into the air and drop down again enough times for the ride to get slower and eventually stop.

There is another huge one where you sit in a seat and you spin very fast about 20 to 30ft in the air. I did go on a few of the bigger rides, but definitely not any like that. There is also a kids' section which has some of the same rides as in the bigger place but a lot smaller. You can play fun games to win prizes. I mostly just won stuffed animals, but some people won mini motorcycles or giant stuffed gorillas.

There is some really weird food at the Stampede like deep-fried oreos, deep-fried pop tarts or even maple glazed donut burgers where the donut is the bun. Besides the Stampede, there is also the Chuckwagon races, the Rodeo, and the Grandstand show which are all really fun to go to too! After the Stampede, we watched the amazing fireworks which go off around 11pm every night that the Stampede is on.
